Ga-Rankuwa is an under resourced community on the outskirts of Pretoria, South Africa. For 13 months, 27 dedicated individuals, surviving on minimum incomes, embarked on a transformative journey, completing their first year of Bible School On Wheels (BSOW#1). Their commitment soon began to yield remarkable changes. Johan Janse van Rensburg, representing ‘Doulos Armoedebediening,’ shares his insights: “The difference after one year is amazing. There is less in-fighting, and people started to work together more. Can I say there is a different Spirit in that settlement.”
Johan continues with an inspiring testimony: “About halfway through the Forgiveness 70×7 course, one of the ladies approached me and confessed that she had forgiven everyone except for one person. She just could not forgive this person. My response was that Jesus taught us to forgive as an ACT of obedience, not necessarily because we want to. One week later, when I returned for the next lesson, she was waiting outside for me, tears in her eyes. She told me that she had forgiven that person because God wanted her to, even though she did not want to. So, she chose obedience and did it. Astonishingly, the very next day, her son, who had been estranged for about 27 years, called her. They have now embarked on rebuilding their relationship, and her smile knows no bounds. What’s even more heartwarming is that, after a few weeks, she approached me again asking how she could help her son, who is not a believer. Thanks to BSOW, she has been equipped with life-changing tools, transforming her from a heart of unforgiveness to one of discipleship. We are committed to expanding our impact by offering the BSOW first year at another location, and we are thrilled to meet the strong demand for BSOW year 2. Already, we have individuals who have pledged to support by funding the course books required for the second year.” WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THE CONTINUING FRUIT THIS YIELDS IN THE COMMUNITY.
